The American Cup – 24th December 2016 – Rocky Mountain Ridge Racecourse

The American Cup

Golden Goodbye

Season 37 reaches a heady climax at Rocky Mountain Ridge today when stable Team Monkfish saddles the Lussum Peeling stallion Fog Wiper in the American Cup. Linsey Miolen’s mount should start in the red for the race. He is in hot form and looks ready to make a big bid to repeat his win from two seasons ago. Secret Revolution will be looking to end the season on a high as well with his high class runner Secret Pact. These two bump heads again, and while they may be good enough to dominate matters, there is some competition in the wings.

This is a fascinating contest and a win for either would make it a memorable end to the season.

1. Fog Wiper

10yo stallion from Team Monkfish, Career earnings: $12,409,734
Overall rating: Spectacular(87) – Stalker
Born:Sun 5th Oct 2014, bred by Nashayman
Lineage:By Lussum Peeling out of Boom Punchin
Recent form:1,1,1,1,1

Stable comments: – “I generally fly under the radar but Fog Wiper gives me the rare opportunity to enter a WC final as a favourite. Not sure if I like that or not…. Foggy won the event 2 seasons ago and looked set to repeat last season before the ground turned Fast and he got caught out by Ersins. He has crushed opponents all season long but can’t run in the same way in this one! If it stays ‘Dead’ then I can honestly see either Fog Wiper or No More Cash taking it. Certainly likely to round out a top 3 with Ped’s involved.”

2. Flying Sienna

9yo mare from flying spurs, Career earnings: $10,240,332
Overall rating: Marvelous(77) – Competitive
Born:Fri 2nd Jan 2015, bred by Thunderspark Racing
Lineage:By Cheyenne II out of Paradaxal
Recent form:1,1,1,1,3

Stable comments: – “Flying Sienna just did what was needed in the heats. I expect a faster run in the final a top 3 result would be a good result for the stable. Foggy Wiper the one to beat along with Secret Pact.”

3. No More Cash

8yo stallion from Lost In The Fog, Career earnings: $3,791,830
Overall rating: Majestic(81) – Stalker
Born:Fri 3rd Apr 2015, bred by Lost In The Fog
Lineage:By Like A Boss out of Something Royal
Recent form:2,3,2,1,2

Stable comments: – “No More Cash ran 2 very nice races late age 6 and early age 7. Since then the efforts have been mediocre. In a final act of desperation I will reset his stride to what it was then (I keep notes on everything). Hopefully he doesn’t embarrass himself in the final. Fog Wiper ran the best heat race and should be considered the heavy favorite.”

4. Secret Pact

9yo mare from Secret Revolution, Career earnings: $11,550,633
Overall rating: Majestic(82) – Competitive
Born:Fri 2nd Jan 2015, bred by YellonkY
Lineage:By Attila The Hun out of Genevieve
Recent form:2,1,1,1,2

Stable comments: – “Fog Wiper looks pretty much unbeatable here – in the heat he cruised past Secret Pact and I’m not sure she has much more to come. Stable talisman Pierre Strydom picks up the ride on Saturday and we’re hoping for a top 3 finish.”

5. Makeup Impasse

9yo mare from Spuraholics, Career earnings: $3,823,820
Overall rating: Marvelous(75) – Stalker
Born:Fri 2nd Jan 2015, bred by Spuraholics
Lineage:By Fliss Deer out of Netty Barton
Recent form:5,1,2,3,3

Stable comments: – “She’s up against the big guns in this so might be a little out of her depth. She ran 5th last season so a repeat of that would be fantastic. Expect Fog Wiper to get the win with Secret Pact, No More Cash & Wacek fighting out the placings. More than happy to just be involved. Good luck all.”

6. Wacek

9yo stallion from YellonkY, Career earnings: $6,884,807
Overall rating: Majestic(80) – Mud-lark
Born:Fri 2nd Jan 2015, bred by turkucie
Recent form:1,1,1,1,1

Stable comments: – “If only it was raining: (anyway if track would stay dead I think we can make good result in that one.”

7. Beyond The Chasm

10yo stallion from Lozzy Stables, Career earnings: $5,182,594
Overall rating: Tremendous(72) – Stalker
Born:Sun 5th Oct 2014, bred by Lozzy Stables
Lineage:By Crossing out of Seeking Satori
Recent form:3,7,4,5,1

Stable comments: – “As the racing career of Beyond the Chasm draws to a close before he goes off to stud, the glory of the American Cup is a dream of a final swansong which is very unlikely to come true. He has been a decent servant to the stable and did well to win his heat. But to be frank he is no where near good enough for this level. His only remote chance for a place is if they go off way to hard and all tire and leave him to pick up the pieces with his stalker style. I hope he runs a good race.”
