The 2yo Sprint Breeder Cup
Winning connections: Sangria Nephalim – Seahorse Racing – Ermelinda Bryans
Comments from the stable: “My race strategy was to aim for the rails early without losing too much speed, staying within an acceptable distance of the front runners to then hopefully have the right balance between stamina/speed/timing to take advantage of Sangria Nephalim’s speedy stats and its complementing fast finisher racing style, hopefully pulling off a very strong finish that no other horse could match. That was the plan, but the tricky bit was to find race instructions that also delivered that in reality! Luckily I was able to find that key and balance today and I couldn’t be happier about my horse’s overall performance. Taking that trophy home Sangria Nephalim definitely deserves a nice holiday now. And some delicious apples!

The 2yo Long Breeder Cup
Winning connections: Nyquist – DR Stables – Amparo Bram
Comments from the stable: “Very happy winning the 2yo long. It was an exciting race and very close. The jockey timed it just right. Been pointing Nyquist towards the 2yo medium in the Champions Series. His next race will be week 9 where he will try to qualify.”

The 3yo Short Breeder Cup
Winning connections: Angel From Hell – DR Stables – Dominque Domlin
Comments from the stable: “Was surprised when Angel From Hell went to the lead out of the gate. Honestly thought she was done at 1000m. Shocked me when she came back and won as easy as she did. Training this week was beach gallops to increase her stride. Race instructions were set to save the horse for the last quarter. She has great acceleration, which comes in handy for the final quarter. Her next cup will be the Golden sphinx where she will be trying to win the Triple Crown.

The 3yo Middle Breeder Cup
Winning connections: Bozo The Clown – Angel’s Flight – Malcolm Rolfson
Comments from the stable: “Great win by the Clown today. We knew coming in it will be a tough race for us with the competition being so close in parity. The biggest concern we had coming into the series was conditioning after the quick turn around winning week 1/2 ASG Cup. We didn’t have a lot of time to get in a lot of training that we would’ve liked. The standout horse that we knew was going to be the one to beat was Blackjack Farms Royal Flush. She skipped the ASG Cup and I thought was coming into the BC with fresher legs. But today I thought jockey Malcolm Rolfson laid off the pace nicely with the stalker and had enough left in the tank to run down Royal Flush this time around. Next up for the Clown is to go back into the lab for more training.

The 4yo Sprint Breeder Cup
Winning connections – Dodge And Swerve – Sootie – Eunice Lapin
Comments from the stable: “The race went great for me as I won hehe that being said though I applaud the ones that raced vs the muddies and finished above them, however I expected to see both Inca’s and Tomac’s right up there as both have won previous cups. My whole intention for this race was to push hard but not break the horse lol that’s why I went with an aggressive jockey and it seems to have worked out. The next cup will be the Epona which will be a tough one as yet another muddy should come into the mix who’s owned by Oz and that’s one I’d like to beat.”

The 4yo Long Breeder Cup
Winning connections: Patrobas – Manor Park Stud –
Comments from the stable: “Race went better than hoped as Patrobas showed his dominance over the long distance running a race record for ground and distance. Got out early which was always the plan to try control the tempo of the race. Will try now to show his ability over the epic distance as not quite there yet so still some work to be done.”

The Breeders Mile
Winning connections: Adlestrop – Woogle Wood – Lang Lampshire
Comments from the stable: “It had been 3 seasons since the stable had won a global cup, despite SS and MM wins, so to be honest, it was nice just to get that particular monkey off my back, especially as it came against multiple global cup winners as good as Tessa Al and Galilei. Usually I plan cup preparation many weeks before the final; but her MM win was Adlestrop’s main target – the Medium BC was an afterthought when I saw how well Adlestrop had come out of 3 weeks of MM racing. With no alternative, I had Lang Lampshire on board – a fires up early on a fast finisher, hmm – though Lang does seem to ride a finish ok; so the idea was to go for it earlier than otherwise I might have and then hang on. Next up for Adlestrop is a rest, then breeding shed, and then another MM campaign next season.”

The 5yo+ Epic Breeder Cup
Winning connections – The Queen’s Affair – Ezulwini – Lekisha Toste
Comments from the stable: “I’m too embarrassed to admit what my race instructions were but I will say that The Queen’s Affair was chasing B’s Bomber throughout the age group cups so it’s definitely pleasing to finally snag a win. The Masters is next and hopefully he can get up one more time. Oh, and this is my first ever epic world cup which is also quite sweet.”
