Big name horses and powerful stables form the core of a field of seven contestants that line up on the ultimate purist’s terms – where the best and fittest horse should win. That sounds so simple, but as is often the case in life and marriage, it’s a little more complicated.

Trainer Gavstar will be on a deserved high after his world cup victories on the last weekend of season 33, and he could follow up here with his top class mare Morris Minor this weekend. The daughter of Do The Math bumps three of the runners that she beat in the Pegasus Plate and even over the extra 150m, she looks very difficult to beat.
Big Bad Dominatrix is from the up and coming Burgersfortheboys stable, who gave the stable their first world cup success three seasons ago. This lightly raced mare is always thereabouts and could just bounce back to her best here.
One of the most consistent runners in his age group Nearly Square hails from the Get Square Lodge stable. This stallion is a winner of one of the nicest cups in Track King, namely – The Jewel of Nile – where he beat four of the horses lining up here today. Big runner.
The runner from the Emerald Downs stable King’s Regicide ran the fastest time in the heats on Saturday, and his trainer will be looking for a big run on Saturday.
Bang On from the Pugstable, is another one in good form, and should be very effective over the course and distance.
The vastly experienced Rafindale stable knows what it takes to win a World Cup, and their runner Dante’s All Class is expected to be right in the action.
Samoan Cashel from the Manacles stable, is a Breeders Cup winner at 4 over the sprint distance. He lacks experience over the medium distances, and might battle in this company.
The lucky last – or the get-out stakes – it’s wide open !
