Jumping from pole position is recent Aussie Sprint winner Dasher, winner of nine of her thirteen starts to date. The daughter of Kushiel has the gate speed to make his 1 gate a lethal ally and Sadye Balley is no slouch in the irons. Back to her best, this six year old looks set to fulfill her early promise.
Bristol Turk’s short distance specialist Rollin In The Deep has earned his stripes in this game and he takes on very good speedsters here. The daughter of Smoke On The Water is perfectly drawn at 2 and cannot be written off.
The classy Blacksmith is proven over this distance and finds himself fit and in good form. Any galloper from the Additive Racing stable is always a danger and Addie Over Inca has shown his resolution and ability with good placed efforts in his last few starts. Dopey Donkey Digs has Choppa in the race, the 6yo daughter of Big Bad Headhoncho ran on strongly at her last start and if anywhere near full fitness, could challenge for honours.

Pre-race comments from:
Winning Post Farm – “Blacksmith takes his place in the line up despite the fact that Dasher looks like a mare who will be hard to beat. My horse is another outstanding son of Wolfbrother so will be doing his best work late in the race although with the dead ground to her liking, Dasher may have gone too far clear by then. Blacksmith is fresh and well after the Heat and it will be interesting to see how many runners line up in what appears to be a battle for second place.”
Bristol Turks – “Well, what can I say, Rollin In the Deep is by far the most successful horse I’ve ever had. And yet I fear she’ll struggle in this race. She never really enjoyed sprints and the going is not ideal for her either but as I always say you gotta be in it to win it. She’s paired with her favourite jockey so hopefully she’ll do enough to finish in the money.”
Force – “Dasher had the better of this company last start in the 5yo sprint and managed to cross the line first before the fast finishing Choppa who is a big chance. The other danger is Addie Over Inca who can be dangerous on a dead track. Rolling in the Deep is a chance if the track becomes slow.”
Whispering Death – “MBR is just along to make up the numbers and perhaps get a bit of experience.”
Addictive Racing – “First cup run since transferring over from Inca and still have some fine tuning to do on the stats before being competitive I think, 1200m will test. Dasher from gate 1 looks the one to beat after a great heat run.”
Dopey Donkey Digs – “Choppa could be a bit of a surprise here. Starting to develop into the ‘stalker’ style. Prob a season still to go, but expect a top 3 finish!”
