The American Cup – 27th May 2017

American Cup

In this seasons renewal of the The American Cup are Secret Aurora, who jumps from pole position, and partnered by his regular pilot Pierre Strydom. The stable goes for the hat-trick of wins, and Secret Aurora looks special. He bumps Tropical Ice on Saturday and this son of Hawaii has put up some never-say-die showings of note himself in the last few seasons.

Valhalla has been ultra-consistent; it has been a long hard season and he is hardly off the float when asked to compete at the top level again! The son of Damascus, Big Bad Conspiracy won an eye-catching race in the heat last time. If travelling well and placed correctly, he comes into the picture as a possible winner.

Not Too Soon hails from the Karaka Breeders stable, he seldom runs a bad race and could be the surprise package on the day. Leave him out at your own peril.

Gs Tanju Colak ran a cracker in the heat, and must be a serious contender.

Pre-race comments from:

Dixon Racing – “Secret Aurora holds the stable’s hopes of picking up the American Cup hat trick, following in the footsteps of his stablemate Secret Pact. Quietly confident of his chances as I rate him a marginally better short racer than Pact was but having said that, there are some impressive racers in the field – look forward to an exciting race!”

Karaka Breeders – “Not Too Soon just didn’t finish off the last quarter in the heat if you look at the RAT. Hoping for a fast pace and my horse to sit just off it to allow his stalker style to kick in the last quarter. He’s not lacking in OR, distance, & track condition xp!”

YellonkY – “This time unfortunately we probably can’t fight for a win, but I hope to see my horse in the first 3. If the track will be fast it should happen.”

Priceless Speedsters – “Frost Fett Ygritte is a long shot but I feel a Stalker will win.”

Lozzy Stables – “My mare has a very good chance… of finishing stone last ! Totally out of her depth and the only hope for her to avoid the wooden spoon is that she could distract a couple of the stallions and force them to try to run on heat with “five legs”.

RCS Locos – “Some top notch runners here but Valhalla has shown he can compete despite being a little OR shy. I expect a good run from him whether he wins or not.”

Desert Wind Stables – “Travelling and lack of any internet has made this all a little harder but have high hopes for Tropical Ice this weekend. Just hope I picked the right jockey for the job.”

Burgersfortheboyz – “It really is hit and miss with the stalkers. If we can get Big Bad Conspiracy tucked in behind the leaders and trigger his ability than he can show his finishing burst. The other scenario is that he hits the front too early. In that case you may have well put your money on a three legged goat because he will give in like a pricked balloon. Secret Aurora and Not too Soon are aiming for their third trophy so they deserve respect.”
