The Season 38 edition of the Jewel Of The Mile has attracted a small field but what it lacks in size it more than makes up in quality – of the seven runners entered at time of writing, three of them are previous cup winners – between Angel’s Flight’s Admiration, Manor Park’s Wester Rintin and Bristol Turk’s Bad To the Bone, they have won all medium cups in this generation.
Looking at previous cup runs, it would seem Admiration and Wester Rintin should fight this out – Admiration was impressive in the heat while the wiley fox Manor Park gave Wester Rintin a gentle breeze on the track – we can put a line through that run, Wester Rintin is sure to be up with the pace in the final.
The other trophy holder in the race, Bad To The Bone looked to lose a little form after the 3yo Breeders but reigning Stable Of The Season Bristol Turks knows how to turn them out and Bad To The Bone is improving nicely, expect a solid run from the son of Requiem.
Captain’s Flicka and Big Bad Lawmaker have been there or thereabouts in all their World Cup runs and just a small turn of luck could see either in the Winners Enclosure on Saturday. Penniless has solid form against weaker while Creek Secured, being a stalker, could surprise on the day if placed in the perfect position for his final run.
