The sun sets on the Season 38 Triple Crown series for five year olds at Sydney Harbour Racecourse today as a top class field clash head-on in the Aussie Clothing Down Under Epic. The quality contest looks set to provide a fascinating curtain call on three months of high-class race action.
The woodchuckers runner, Havana Starz jumps from gate #1 and he will be keen to get the smart daughter of Ceres Samoan in the winners enclosure. While Angel’s Flight’s Madam Secretary proved superior to most early on in her career, she finished downfield in her last cup appearance, and has a perfect opportunity here to correct that.
Clueless Cast finished second in the Diamond Cup last season, he caught the eye when running a cracker in the heat on Saturday, and he must have a big shout. The lightly raced Finnish Hieghts has shown little in her four runs to date, but comes in with an outside chance. Empires is improving and with a bit of luck could run into the minor money.
Highest rated Lowe Cup winner Mary Lou is back on favorable ground, and she warrants respect. The son of Lambda Provoke, Jewelled Octagon, is top class on his day and even from his 7 draw, has a great chance. Diamond Cup winner, Nate’s E-mail ran a cracking second to Clueless Cast in the heat, and will enjoy this distance.
