The Champagne Stakes – 17th March 2017

Champagne Stakes

Who Will Rule?

It has been beautiful to watch the tussle between two top stables, and they square up again.

It does not get better in terms of big race preps than a smooth victory. Simply The Best ran a cracker when winning the preview in a slick time. Captaen will strip a fit horse on Friday and must have a chance for the back-end of quartets. The son of Kingston Eclipse, Broker Text Het, is comfortably held by Simply The Best and Captaen on his last two starts.

Pugstable’s runner Khan Black travels from Adelaide and looks to have plenty to do. Tina Belcher was placed in the preview to show that she is not far off the best at her peak. Bigger Rolly from Manor Park Stud, and Big Bad Navigator jumps from gates #6 and #7, is something of an unknown quantities and could be the ones to spoil the Angel’s Flight party.
