The 3yo Short Breeder Cup

Questions Will Be Answered

The 3 year old Short Breeder Cup race on Saturday is one of the highlights on Breeders Cup day. It is never an easy race to analyse.

The class act in the race is Rollin In The Deep. She would love a slow track and from a probably ideal draw of two under Bree Vascones has a big chance. She ran an excellent preparation race when running on strongly for a win over unsuitable fast ground last week. Bold Accent is an tricky ride, and needs to be switched off at the right time, if he finds decent cover his superb turn of foot will take him close.

My Own Business has a good draw and the best has likely not been seen of him yet, he has a big chance under Letha Wilansky. Repeaterbeater always struck as one who would get better with age. He will show further improvement from his first comeback run over fast ground.

1. Repeaterbeater

3yo colt from Woogle Wood, Career earnings: $367,500
Overall rating: Satisfactory(48) – Mud-lark
Born:Fri 15th Jul 2016, bred by Woogle Wood
Lineage:By Top Eight out of Seething Rain
Recent form:1,3,7

Trainer comments: – “Repeaterbeater is a bit of an unknown quantity, even for me. He was spelled for a long time, to recover after an injury in his second race and to catch up OR-wise on those contemporaries he now faces; so I’m still working him out. Having gone very easily with him on a surface he hated in the heats, I’m now doing a rain dance for the surface he wants. If the rains do come this son of Seething Rain has the OR, XP and jockey to give him a fighting chance.”

2. Rollin In The Deep

3yo filly from Bristol Turks, Career earnings: $1,430,455
Overall rating: Satisfactory(48) – Mud-lark
Born:Fri 1st Jul 2016, bred by Bristol Turks
Recent form:1,1,1,4,1

Trainer comments: – “I’m looking forward to this one. Rollin surprised me with her speed in the heat. The final is a little bit shorter and the going should be more suitable for her so I’m hopeful for a top3 place.”

3. Bold Accent

Overall rating: Satisfactory(47) – Stalker
Born:Fri 1st Jul 2016, bred by Lost In The Fog
Lineage:By Our Gary out of Mac Bacchus

Trainer comments: – “Bold Accent should get top 3 with her xp despite the ridiculous stride. Rollin in the Deep is my personal favorite. He has a brilliant turn of foot.”

4. My Own Business

Trainer comments: – “My Own Business is in good shape after the heat, but I think Rollin In The Deep will be the winner, so our goal for this race is to try to close that gap, after that heat run I think we will be fighting for 2nd place.”

Trainer comments: – “After his impressive 3rd in the Australian 2yo Regionals at the end of last season, felt we may have something special. Didn’t run out the extra distance well in the heats but hoping he’s better for that run. Very impressive field but you never know. Glad to be a part of it.”

Trainer comments: – “Well my name is Chris and I am a fairly new stable to the game. I was originally not going to enter any of the Breeders Cups. With me being a new stable, I know I have next to a zero chance of winning this race or any other Breeders Cups with my current stable. I only had the option of the 3yo and 2yo Breeders Cups to choose from as only 2 of my horses qualify to race. Rather than not race any at all….I decided I would enter Lust Perfecto a 3yo Filly and not race the 2yo BC. I think this will be a great race and it should be close. I expect to finish last as I am also the only stable running with a Apprentice Jockey and the lowest rated horse. But what the hell would horse racing be without …..THE LONG SHOT! Maybe I get to surprise the world in this one but the odds might be 1000-1 or worse!
I think
1. Rollin in the deep
2. Bold Accent
3. My Own Business

My surprise in this Final is Erratic….I think a showing isn’t out of question.”

11. Erratic

3yo colt from Smudger Stables, Career earnings: $177,935

12. Sir Jeffrey Archer

3yo colt from Windmill Racing, Career earnings: $180,251
Overall rating: Satisfactory(48) – Breakaway
Born:Fri 1st Jul 2016, bred by Windmill Racing
Recent form:6,10,1,4,1

Trainer comments: – “Sir Jeffrey Archer is my only foetal 6 I’ve ever bred and he will take his chance again at the highest level. He struggled in this kind of company as a 2yo but he has improved and won his heat impressively. However that was the Sunday one so it may be difficult to get him in peak condition for the final. He gets a jockey change too but I’m hopeful of a top half finish.”
