“Rain Or Shine Its Just A State Of Mind”
The 4yo milers final kick off this weekend as a small group assemble to go after the Lowe Guineas. The weather conditions are starting to heat up a bit and the track is starting to dry out. The weather pattern for Sydney around this time during week 2-3 is on top of the equator, which the conditions suppose to be dead this season, but if you notice over the past five seasons there has only been one running over the dead surface, two over a good track,two over slow track. Dante’s Assassin, a lightly race stallion out of Rafindale stables is probably the favorite and the one to beat this weekend. A competitive style horse who is 2 for 2 in his young career and will be looking to keep his unbeaten streak intact and should relish these conditions dead or good. Nyquist, a mud-lark out of the ever so dangerous DR. Stables barn ran a very impressive heat last weekend and will be hoping the track stay dead to give him a better opportunity to be competitive and stay within striking distance come down the stretch. Lump Of Ice, another mud-lark out of Sootie stables is last season ASG Cup winner who also got skills but will be hoping the conditions can be on the damp side to give himself a fair shot to win his 2nd World Cup.
Cold Turkey, Ho-ho, and Modern Times, are looking to find there right footing and if the track goes good this weekend they may have to be figured into the equation.
