The Australian Spring Guineas

Three’s Company Today

Three of the most exciting 3 year old’s of last term, each from a top yard, add plenty of lustre and interest to the Saturday programme today. The trio will face race action at the Sydney Harbour Racecourse for the third time in their short careers.

Angel’s Flight Champagne Stakes winner Admiration, a daughter of Sirius Whispers won all three 3 of her starts and looks eminently suited to the 1600m here.

Manor Park Stud, the connections of the quality Fast Donny Franky filly Wester Rintin will be keen to exact revenge for their girl’s defeat by Admiration in the Champagne Stakes.

Bristol Turks sends out the exciting Bad To The Bone, he ran on smartly last time just behind Wester Rintin and looks set for another big effort.

Big Bad Lawmaker catch the eye after a cracking race in the heats last Saturday, and while seemingly held by Admiration, Wester Rintin and Bad To The Bone on a  previous clash, the son of Wild Thomas could pop up fresh with a big try. He is a serious runner.

Both Creek Secured and Stacelita comes out of unimpressive efforts in the heats over short and may be better suited to the medium distances. They have some work to do to feature. The son of Top Eight, Penniless is thrown in the deep end here and will need to put his best foot forward to challenge for the serious money. The Judda Yard runner, Duchess Lemming has developed into a very consistent sort and could handle the step up.

Born:Fri 1st Jul 2016, bred by GOLDCASH
Lineage:By Sirius Whispers out of Istanbul

Stable comments: – “It is a small but very competitive race. It will be tough to beat the two best trainers in the game. I hope for a much better run from my filly over her preferred distance.”

2. Wester Rintin

3yo filly from Manor Park Stud, Career earnings: $366,200
Overall rating: Satisfactory(46) – Competitive
Born:Fri 1st Jul 2016, bred by Bones Graveyard Stud
Recent form:2,2

Stable comments: – “Should be a tightly contested race, hopefully. So far Admiration has proven to be a few steps ahead of some of these so you’d expect it to stay like that for this final. Stacelita is untested over the distance so an unknown but needs to improve a bit on the heat run to factor but then is the most experienced runner xp wise. Big Bad Lawmaker has huge OR and the style for the conditions so could prove to be the dark horse. Looking forward to what should be a great race.”

3. Admiration

3yo filly from Angel’s Flight, Career earnings: $1,114,400
Overall rating: Satisfactory(47) – Competitive
Born:Fri 1st Jul 2016, bred by GOLDCASH

Stable comments: – ” He who would learn to fly one day must first learn to stand and walk and run and climb and dance; one cannot fly into flying.” – Friedrich Nietzsche

Admiration is still learning to do all these things and my expectations is she will give a solid performance in the ASG final.”

4. Bad To The Bone

3yo colt from Bristol Turks, Career earnings: $557,200
Overall rating: Satisfactory(46) – Competitive
Born:Fri 1st Jul 2016, bred by Bristol Turks
Lineage:By Requiem out of Hyper Kitten
Recent form:3,3,3

Stable comments: – “This is a tough one. Bad To The Bone ran OK in the heat, pretty much what I was expecting. I had to change the jockey up for the final as the heat jockeys is tied up in Ascot but think the pairing might work. There are a few in the final that can win this, Admiration, Wester Rintin and Stacelita all look capable so Bad will need to have a very good run to be in the mix.”

5. Creek Secured

3yo colt from Rawhide, Career earnings: $0
Overall rating: Satisfactory(46) – Stalker
Born:Fri 1st Jul 2016, bred by Rawhide
Lineage:By Godzilla out of Naomi’s
Recent form:10,10,6,10,7

Stable comments: – “Creek Secured has failed to place in any of his races to date. It would be a surprise if this changes in the final!”

6. Big Bad Lawmaker

3yo colt from Burgersfortheboyz, Career earnings: $436,000
Overall rating: Satisfactory(49) – Breakaway
Born:Fri 1st Jul 2016, bred by JamesBrown
Lineage:By Wild Thomas out of Comply Grun
Recent form:1,6,1

Stable comments: – “The Group 1 Guineas should be a cracker of a cup final. So many top class stables with more hopes and dreams than a bride-to-be visiting her local clairvoyant. The big 4 as I like to call them Angel, Manor,Crusoe and Bristol Turk could all put a strong case forward as to why they could lift the trophy come Saturday night. Our colt Big Bad Lawmaker will be looking to come back from his disappointing unplaced run against the same stables in the Champagne stakes. Hopefully a much calmer jockey will ease this aggressive colt, as the previously hot tempered jock who pushed the colt beyond his limits in the Champagne has been demoted to riding camels in the plush Alps of Kyrgyzstan for the next few seasons.”

7. Penniless

3yo colt from regalroller, Career earnings: $315,100
Overall rating: Acceptable(43) – Early sprinter
Born:Fri 1st Jul 2016, bred by FRAMPTON

Stable comments: – “Probably the best horse in our stable however it was well held in the heat. Would be stoked to run top 5 in the final. Angel Flight’s horse clearly the one to beat.”

8. Duchess Lemming

3yo colt from The Judda Yard, Career earnings: $292,854
Overall rating: Satisfactory(46) – Competitive
