Stay The Day
The long-haulers close the River Nile Delta race meeting on Saturday, with the running of the 4yo Long Breeder Cup.This is a competitive staying contest which could dish up a combination of varying results.
Out Of Luck from the Team Monkfish stable jumps from pole position. The Lucky Colours’ son looks to be going the right way and seems to be getting stronger and cannot be ignored. Jockey Paris Bissonnette throws his/her leg over the daughter of Moustache Uranium, Bright Blessed Day. The 4yo’s last run was a creditable one when she was only run out of it late by Poseidon. She has excellent form over the expected dead ground on the day and will be the one to beat. Poseidon had ground advantage in the heat and the stable manager has been seen outside the stable doing rain dances. Sootie saddles Joe Rook, who reverts back to the long distances. While he did not prove to us that he sees out the marathon distances on his earlier form, he is another that cannot be ignored from a powerful stable.

1. Out Of Luck |
4yo stallion from Team Monkfish, Career earnings: $398,405 Overall rating: Reasonable(53) – Natural champion |
Stable comments: – “Other than grabbing stall 1 for the final, preparations have lived up to my horses name – Out of Luck. It will be a struggle to get him to V/V/V for the final due to RL commitments meaning the horse won’t see a vet until Tuesday night. If the ground stays Slow, then it’s all about Poseidon. If the ground goes Dead, then it should be another WC for my best frenemy. I may live to regret not owning a phone with internet, plus pushing Zane to enter the cup. Good luck to all involved!”
2. Hissyfit |
4yo mare from C M Pace Ranch, Career earnings: $1,013,100 Overall rating: Satisfactory(46) – Fast finisher |
Stable comments: – “Hissyfit had IP going into the heat. Vet assessment was at 17, but still fresh. So, I eased her as much as possible. Being a fast finisher on slow versus the highest trained mudlarks doesn’t give her any advantage. In this final I’ll have her run her own race and see if she can pull a PR against herself.”
3. Bright Blessed Day |
4yo mare from Lost In The Fog, Career earnings: $419,500 Overall rating: Reasonable(54) – Natural champion |
Stable comments: – “If the mix season weather comes up with a slow track on Saturday, I’ll scratch. Bright Blessed Day ran screwy in the heat. She was steady first 3/4 and ts final quarter. For some reason she was on the lead from the start. As a result her health is lower than expected. Dead going, Bright Blessed Day has an honest chance. She’s been aimed toward dead and 2200m since she started. Dollyplops runner on the rail could surprise too. If it comes up slow, Poseidon is a lock. Dead or slow he’s the class of the field and the horse to beat.
4. Poseidon |
4yo stallion from captaincrusoe, Career earnings: $1,369,800 Overall rating: Admirable(56) – Mud-lark |
Stable comments: – “Very happy with the heat run, however with the sun out, we will battle to beat Bright Blessed Day from the Lost In The Fog stable, but my runner is here to race”
5. Joe Rook |
4yo stallion from Sootie, Career earnings: $1,995,400 Overall rating: Reasonable(54) – Mud-lark |
Stable comments: – “Having seen the weather I was hoping it would of turned slow but can’t see that happening so my chances have faded, none the less will still give it a bash and see how it goes.”
6. Brazen Beau |
4yo stallion from Pugstable, Career earnings: $1,313,005 Overall rating: Reasonable(51) – Competitive |
Stable comments: – “Brazen Beau will be just making up the numbers in the 4yo long final and chasing home the 2 outstanding muddies, Poseidon and Joe Rook.”
7. Jameela |
4yo mare from YellonkY, Career earnings: $1,441,205 Overall rating: Acceptable(40) – Natural champion |
Stable comments: – “Jameela is for sure not strong enough to win this one, but has a nice exp, so I gave her a chance. If she gets some money I’d be satisfied :-)”
8. Hiccup Pull |
4yo stallion from NZ Thorobreds, Career earnings: $457,853 Overall rating: Satisfactory(45) – Unpredictable |
Stable comments: – “
9. Levetiractam |
4yo mare from Status Epilepticus, Career earnings: $320,531 Overall rating: Satisfactory(47) |
Stable comments: – “Lucky 7th place?”
