The Aussie Clothing Down Under Epic
Winning connections: Relaunch – Angel’s Flight – Clara Colla
Comments from the stable: – “What more can we say about this incredible horse, he is simply special and continue to write and chase history. Launch blasted off into orbit today and he was out of sight with no one in sight coming home, a performance for the ages. He exceeded all my expectations and I look forward to seeing him run during his 6yo campaign.”

Winning connections: Guaranteed Havoc – Desert Wind Stables – Kizzie Jerman
Comments from the stable: – “Overjoyed at getting a farewell cup for this 10yo mare having missed the Open! The jockey only had one previous ride on Guaranteed Havoc so I was slightly uncertain as to my exact instructions for the race but she rode it perfectly. It was a very strong field and Cronus gave me heart palpitations in the final straight, but Havoc did me proud. Time to pop the bubbly!”

Comments from the stable: – “Did it easier than I had hoped and without taking too much out of the horse. Race went perfectly with the jockey following instructions exactly. The real big test will be his next cup, will really see how good a horse Patrobas is. Had some very nice long runners over the years, this ones shaping up to be the best of the bunch.”

Winning connections: Secret Agenda – Dixon Racing – Pierre Strydom
Comments from the stable: – “Absolutely thrilled with Agenda’s performance today – as a lightly run horse it’s always difficult to judge where they are. Mission accomplished – this cup win was honestly a team effort, being a rookie with epics and muddies I had a lot of great advice on stats and instructions – my team mates know who they are, and this cup is theirs as much as it’s Agenda’s 🙂 . Hoping she trains on to be a really nice stayer as she seems to have the goods.”

Comments from the stable: – “Ecstatic at winning a second cup this weekend. Really thought Viking Power was going to clean up but after seeing Nefertiti’s heat time I was slightly more hopeful. Was screaming at my jockey as she stopped whipping just before the finish line and with Viking on her tail but actually I think she is quite good with these youngster cups so may let her hang around a little longer!”

Winning connections: Kingston Eclipse – Angel’s Flight – MacKenzie Coberly
Comments from the stable: – “Feel like Kingston Eclipse got his mojo back today. I will never make excuses like some stables out there do after a lost in cup races, 😛 because hands down Savannah Flyer was the best horse in the Jewel of The Mile last season. But we were able to redeem ourselves with a hard fought victory today over the champion Savannah Flyer. Kudos to Flying Spurs and the rest of the stables for a great exciting race today.”

Winning connections: Hilikus Coop – Manor Park Stud – Greg Quann
Comments from the stable: – “Delighted with the win against such a quality field. Amazed to see the average speed in setting a WR for slow considering the start, thought it was all over when near last after 50m. Couldn’t have asked for any more to come through the field like Coop did. Sets up the Australian SS perfectly as will face Aleppo and Morpheus once again not to mention the weekly league racing this season in LOWE.”

Comments from the stable: – “Very happy that he won his final race before retirement. Putting a new jockey on in a cup final, is always a big risk, but he acquitted himself well. I was hoping for a better time, but will take the cup any day.”

Comments from the stable: – “I wasn’t sure the race was long enough for him but he got there so all good and shit just saw ran 2nd in the Emerald Shoe 🙂 . Jockey comments: I was initially challenged by the horse. An absolute dream to ride. Very spirited horse. On another day, maybe I could have gotten more from the horse? Trainer comments:Coming home strong, probably could have gone a bit harder early in the race though.”

Winning connections: Celsius – Shinibaba – Belva Clevland
Comments from the stable: – “My 9yo stud Celsius was well prepared, but there was really tough horses in the field. When the race started he took it a bit slow. In the first curve he took the lead but at 1000m Dark Aotearoa overtook the first place. At the end Nomuch Horntail came up from behind and Horntail and Celsius got closer to Dark Aotearoa. A close finish and Celsius was lucky to win just before Dark Aotearoa from BlackJack farms. This was Celsius 4th World cup win and I think he is the 9yo with most money earned. Really happy of course.”

Winning connections: Big Bad Conspiracy – Burgersfortheboyz – Ossie Wenstrand
Comments from the stable: – “The Cup win of Big Bad Conspiracy was one of great personal satisfaction. When I first joined the game I instantly fell in love with the striking grey stallion Damascus, an undisputed champion of his time. I decided I must breed a foal from his last crop no matter what the cost. I didn’t expect the auction for his services to reach 1 million though! The stable was in its infancy at the time so it went heavily into the red. The administrators were banging down the door. However the old saying short term pain for long term gain, there was light at the end of the tunnel, in the shape of a shiny sparkling World Cup!”
