Winning connections: Wishing Well – Angel’s Flight – Clara Colla
Comments from the stable: ” It’s been 3 seasons since Wishing Well last cup victory. After her bad performance in last season Aussie Epic, I just decided to train her and get some more racing in under her belt to prepare her for this cup. Coming in to the race I thought she was very sharp but knew there were Dante’s Wawa, and others to beat and she ran well enough to win today. During the race I just wanted to utilize her speed and keep her up close to the front pace and in the final quarter take command of the race down the stretch. Great effort by the runner up Surfin’ Safari.”

Winning connections: Poseidon – captaincrusoe – Jeannetta Brockus
Comments from the stable: “Poseidon was only a OR39 foal at birth, he was bred by my stud Blue Tyndareus, out of a 10yo mare Secret Rapture, who has thrown two world cup winners already. Regarding the race: I was on the paint for free and I didn’t want him to lose that position. Instructions was to jump well, open up a small lead, then keep a good pace without using a lot of energy. I knew his main competitors would start their forward run from the 2/8 pole. Everything work out as planned first half of the race, and he had plenty left last 3/8’s to kick for the win, in a new world record for his age group over the distance and ground. Special thanks to Hareeba for his sponsorship of these beautiful cups”

Winning connections: Ghostmilk – Fernbank Park – Tona Nowlin
Comments from the stable: “I felt that I would be close at the finish as I had the second top speed in the heats and horse recovered very quickly. As usual I went flat out the whole race and got a good break which Ghostmilk managed to hold on to for balance of race. Only my second cup win, and extra special considering the strength of opposition and respect I have for them. The selected name Ghostmilk is also very close to my heart as she was by far my best real racehorse and a true mudlark who got as far as running in the Group 1 Toorak Handicap a few years ago after winning 3 Saturday races in a row in the slop, so as soon as I got a 2yo Mudlark I had to name her Ghostmilk. Unfortunately the real Ghostmilk died on an operating table which was devastating, but having my TK Ghostmilk racing & winning to me kind of continues my relationship. Also happy with the $22 odds.”

Winning connections: Idea Cafe Stink – ghanainternational – Alexandra Sembrat
Comments from the stable: “It was a good race, I thought the muddies would dominate, however Sparrow Fart and Just A Square did well to finish ahead of some good muddies. Herculaneum is very good horse and is closely match with Idea Cafe Stink, however, once Idea Cafe Stink took the lead she looked like the winner.”

Winning connections: Gs Arena – Fernbank Park – Tona Nowlin
Comments from the stable: “Its fantastic to see Gs Arena is actually getting results. Spend many hours bringing up this beautifully bred stallion by Reds Breeding Stud. Although he has sufficient stamina to last the distance, I still have given him a breather before the final 600 meters, which worked very well and beat his opponents sweetly. I expect a lot more from him on soft and heavy going in the future.”

Winning connections: Trapper – Yorulmaz – Ellis Veroeven
Comments from the stable: “Trapper was the runner up last year and previous year at the age restricted cups, So You Think and Cox Plate. This time we prepared better and the conditions are well suited for Mud-larks. We are not surprised with the win. Time of Trapper was better than all of the horses at the first round and at the final my horse performed well again. We hope a successful future from Trapper after this cup win.”

Winning connections:Zebra Poseur Never – The Willow’s Elite – Deadra Simek
Comments from the stable: “I am so excited as I was only expecting a top 3 finish, although she did run the fastest heat time! Zebra Poseur Never is a 3rd generation home bred mare and as she is only top 2 enabled was for sale. I am now glad that I trained and raced her as she has been super consistent throughout her career. I entered later as I thought there might be congestion on the rails and I really like gate numbers 6-8. I had my early sprinter jockey on as I knew she needed to be close enough when her fast finisher style kicked in, and the race went perfectly. She will hopefully breed a good foal at the end of the season.”
