The Aussie Clothing Down Under Sprint

Trainer DR Stables has few peers when it comes to the business of strategy and placement of top horses. Captain Morgan faces his personal high noon at Sydney Harbour Racecourse on Saturday, when he goes head to head with Troublemaker’s machine Sos Venezuela and woodchucker ace Apollo Kingz.

The question that will be answered on Saturday is whether the Inca magic will work again. Or has the multiple world cup trainer bitten off more than he can chew this time round?

The race is sponsored by Aussie Clothing Down Under

1. Apollo Kingz

5yo stallion from woodchuckers, Career earnings: $3,621,420
Overall rating: Excellent(62) – Mud-lark

Comments: woodchuckers says – “Apollo has had a good preparation for the Aussie sprint, ran a nice heat in good form so can be in the money I think. Dangers the in form stables DR Stables has his team firing and Captain Morgan already a cup winner. Dual cup winner Sos Venezuela well trained and already shown a bit in league. RCS Locos has his horses firing so another threat with Samart Jester. It a final that high for quality good luck to all.”

2. Sos Venezuela

5yo stallion from Troublemaker’s, Career earnings: $2,466,459
Overall rating: Excellent(63) – Mud-lark

Comments: Troublemaker’s says – “Thank you for making previews, they are really nice to read and I enjoy them a lot.

Regarding my horse, I have to say I would love it if he would win, but I still think he needs lots of work, his stats are no where close to what I would like them to be, but hes a strong runner, if he doesn’t he will be 2nd behind Inca or Woody. The jock is a very nice one from JEDIMIND, I think he will help me to win a trophy soon. Good luck to everyone!”

3. Captain Morgan

5yo stallion from DR Stables, Career earnings: $3,593,275
Overall rating: Admirable(58) – Mud-lark

Comments: DR Stables says – “Captain Morgan lacks any real speed, so he’ll have to grind it out. If jockey Amparo Bram can keep the race close early the Captain has a chance. If Apollo Kingz gets a big lead early he will be hard to beat. Main competitors are Apollo Kingz from Woodchucker and Sos Venezuela from Troublemakers. Captain Morgan should be in the top 5, with a little luck top 3.”

4. Swick Sardeans

5yo mare from Sardean Lodge, Career earnings: $1,057,722
Overall rating: Excellent(62)

Comments: Sardean Lodge says – “I was very disappointed in her heat, she has run well in the wet previously including 2nd in her last cup outing. I feel her lack of xp on her competitors is leaving her behind now. Qualifying for he final is step 1 though and maybe she is saving her best for the final. She has recovered super fast so may have had a lot left in the tank. I think she will struggle in the final though but she has earned the right to run in it so had to enter her. Apollo Kingz will be extremely hard to beat, all pressure on the woody to get the job done.”

5. Prince Hairboy

5yo stallion from Cajun Stables, Career earnings: $739,054
Overall rating: Reasonable(53) – Mud-lark

Comments: Cajun Stables says – “Had a mixup with jockeys so regular jockey did not ride in the race so hard to tell how horse will really do. I think we will be competitive, but there are much better horses in the race and I have not done well in any cup race outside of my local track. I am optimistic this will be the race. We turn the corner. Jockey and horse trained well and will be rested and ready.”

6. Samart Jester

5yo mare from RCS Locos, Career earnings: $1,851,112
Overall rating: Excellent(62) – Mud-lark

Comments: RCS Locos says – “Samart Jester ran a a decent heat considering his horrendous start out the gates and am assured he wont compete in his flipflops in the final so am confident he will improve. The only slight concern is the new jockey on board but if he can get a decent start he will be up there. For me Apollo Kingz is the favourite but 3 or 4 are more than capable of winning. I’m looking forward to a cracking race.”

7. Firm Meester

5yo mare from Thunderspark Racing, Career earnings: $480,350
Overall rating: Excellent(61) – Early sprinter

Comments: Pending

8. Ghostmilk

5yo mare from Fernbank Park, Career earnings: $1,036,375
Overall rating: Excellent(62) – Mud-lark

Comments: Fernbank Park says – “Generally don’t go in to race confident of winning especially against some of the stronger stables, however these are the races I generally end up winning. Looking at field the 3 heat winners are all very similar in OR & XP and are all mudlarks so probably gets down to jockey and I think Woodchuckers may have an edge, plus the horse has much more race experience. My XP growth has mostly come from regular Training Track which is my style as I concentrate on growing League Runners rather than early cup winners, but having recently won a Breeders Cup, and getting a few good results in cup events I now have the taste and belief that I can mix it up with the big boys. My instructions will be to go flat out and hopefully be there at the end.”

9. Spanish Mix

5yo mare from Hareeba, Career earnings: $1,701,742
Overall rating: Excellent(60) – Mud-lark

Comments: Hareeba says – “Spanish Mix will need to make vast improvement to win as the other heats speed was much faster. She can improve I feel but don’t think enough to be a winning contender. Would be happy with a top 5 finish.”

10. Eltie Talented

5yo stallion from Jamming, Career earnings: $875,879
Overall rating: Adequate(37) – Stalker
