The Alliance present – The Amethyst Trophy

The Amethyst, a gem of deep purple coloring treasured by kings and queens through the ages, ancient folklore tells us the Amethyst powers include courage and hardiness. This is the 14 Annual running of this event and in the past we have seen some great champions win this race and went on to do big things after.

Some of the best 4yo sprinters come to lock horns this Season 35 on a track that should be on the muddy to slow side. Viking Power look like the horse to beat, the 2 time world champion has been flexing his powers but that has been in short races. Dante’s Anger is a horse that might give the champ a run for his money it really come down to best sprint experience vs. best track condition.

Dodge And Swerve have seen enough of Viking Power backside over the last couple of finals that he would love to reverse that role. He will get another shot to make that happen on Saturday.

Type Darkest Arial and Hilikus Redskin are two other mudlarks in the race that might have something to say about the outcome when its all said and done, keep and eye on these two.

Let’s take a look at the overall field!

(Update 4-16-2016 15:00 track is heavy)

1. Dante’s Anger

4yo mare from rafindale, Career earnings: $576,400
Overall rating: Admirable(59) – Competitive

Comments: Dante’s Anger enter the Amethyst final with the highest XP in sprint with an Awe-inspiring of 20. Will this be enough in getting the 4yo competitive bay mare across the finish over the muddies on the slow track?

2. Magic Carpet Ride

4yo mare from Moonlight Stables, Career earnings: $758,075
Overall rating: Reasonable(53) – Mud-lark

Comments: Magic Carpet Ride will be happy to see the mud in the finals. The 4yo mare out of Moonlight Stables ran 4th in the heat on a dead track but the big question is do she want to sprint? or do she want to go short?

3. Bronson Kaori Gold

4yo stallion from Stud Trouville, Career earnings: $619,800
Overall rating: Admirabel(55) – Early sprinter

Comments: Bronson Kaori Gold is a 4yo bay stallion early sprinter who has not won a race in 7 starts. The early sprinter may find the slow track not to his liking, the footing may feel like quick sand to the speed demon.

4. Dodge And Swerve

4yo stallion from Sootie, Career earnings: $1,538,422
Overall rating: Admirable(58) – Mud-lark

Comments: Dodge And Swerve out of Sootie Stables has been a little off his game the last 6 starts, but will be a horse who can’t be overlooked. This weekend conditions will be more to his liking and the 18.3 hand docile colt will be looking to right the wrong.

5. Type Darkest Arial

4yo stallion from DR Stables, Career earnings: $1,058,362
Overall rating: Satisfactory(49) – Mud-lark

Comments: DR Stables has enjoyed an outstanding last season and the son of Deledio Senseless Type Darkest Arial looks to add some silverware. He reverts back to the sprint distances after winning the 3yo Breeders Cup over short last season.

6. Hilikus Redskin

4yo stallion from ghanainternational, Career earnings: $554,350
Overall rating: Admirable(55) – Mud-lark

Comments: The son of Aviance Hilikus Redskin, ran second behind Dante’s Anger in the heat, he cannot be underestimated and warrants serious consideration with ground advantage.

7. Windy Milky Tryza

4yo mare from Lisco Stables, Career earnings: $488,650
Overall rating: Admirable(55) – Competitive

Comments: Fitness may be a question for the top-rated daughter of Lieutenant Dan, after running 4th in her heat on Sunday.

8. Daylami

4yo stallion from KILL BILL, Career earnings: $847,450
Overall rating: Reasonable(54) – Competitive

Comments: Daylami is another that ran his heat on Sunday, his form is solid, but he might struggle in this company.

9. Bahookie

4yo stallion from Sin666, Career earnings: $234,800
Overall rating: Admirable(56) – Unpredictable

Comments: Bahookie finished 5th in his heat last week, he will need to show more improvement to be a factor here.

10. Viking Power

4yo stallion from New Scotland Yard, Career earnings: $2,116,566
Overall rating: Excellent(61) – Mud-lark

Comments: The top rated horse in the race Viking Power is bang in form, having clocked up meritorious wins at his last three starts. One of the favorites in the race and a force to be reckon with.

11. War Avenging

4yo mare from Rockstar Racing, Career earnings: $345,369
Overall rating: Reasonable(53) – Fast finisher

Comments: War Avenging is drawn wide out, and the ground might not suite this fast finisher from the Rockstar Racing Yard.

12. Claustrophobic

4yo stallion from Hands Above, Career earnings: $998,520
Overall rating: Reasonable(50) – Needs space

Comments: Challenger Claustrophobic has won two of his last three outings and has done little wrong in ten career starts to date. But he is unexposed at this level and looks well held by others.
