Week 9 bring us the 15th Annual running of the Down Under Sprint race with probably one of the best competitive fields we have seen in quite some times. From top to bottom, from post 1 thru 17, every runner can say they have a real shot at winning. Lets breakdown each horse one by one to see who will come out victorious in this epic battle.
1. Addie Over Doneill |
5yo mare from crowsrock, Career earnings: $1,459,500 Overall rating: Excellent(63) – Early sprinter |
Comment: One of the early sprinters in the race Addie Over Doneill out of Crowsrock Stable has been trying to find her niche. Finishing 3rd in last weekend heat race, the 5yo mare will have to contend with other for the lead and try not to burn herself out among the early fast pace setters.

Comment: Dixon Racing has been setting the world cup circuit on fire here of late, showing other owners he has arrive and will be someone to deal with in the seasons to come. Now enter his 5yo bay mare Secret Infraction who finish 2nd to Dirty Leonardo in this seasons Amethyst Trophy. Jockey Pierre Strydom gets the call this time around.

Comment: Seek And Destroy a 2 time world cup champion out of Bristol Turks barn has not showed his flash of brilliance that he has shown in the past. Owner GM-Ersins would like to have the stalker laying back in the middle of the pack and have him rolling past the pace setter at the wire.

Another stalker who won his heat race last weekend will be looking to improve off that win. Not racing to much in his career make him sort of a mystery horse.

Comment: Blue Cretheus a 5yo bay stallion out of captaincrusoe had an impressive heat race last weekend running the 3rd best world record time in 1:08.992 (62.62km/h) over 1,200m. Another run like that or better, and his owner might be hoisting up another world cup.

Comment: The first of two entries from Happy Skipper Stable, Nihilator will be seeking to annihilate this field if he gets the opportunity. The fast finisher has been running more consistent here of late and will be looking for a super fast pace to charge after.

Comment: The second of the dynamic duo Happy Skipper Stable, American Pharoah, named after the famous 2015 Triple Crown Winner, make this stablemate combo a dangerous 1, 2, punch and giving the owner HappySkipper a great opportunity to bring home a cup.

Comment: Allison Racing bring to the track 5yo bay mare Just A Dream. Another fast finisher that ran 2nd in her heat race and has been running very well of late. The big 19.2 hand gal has a powerful kick, and with a clear path you may see her gobbling up the track at the wire.

Comment: Coming into the race as one of the highest rated horse in the field at an overall (69) rating. Bjarnafoss out of Double U Stables is a breakaway runner that has shown flashes of peaking at the right time. 2nd in her heat, she seem to be rounding into shape at the right time.

Comment: Jacqueline a 5yo bay mare from Spanish Main barn, also come into this sprint race with an overall (69) rating. She just won her heat and beat out Bjarnafoss with a nice time. Coming out of post 11 this race she will need to place herself quite nicely in order to be in position to strike.

Comment: Songline a 5yo bay stallion out of trouble racing, is one of the early sprinters of the race that will be battling to set the pace. With a lot of good early sprinters in the field, the only question would be will he be able to be withstand the fast pace to finish in the money.

Comment: 4yo Breeders Cup Champion Allwrong Bowler, hailed out of the ghanainternational, is another sprinter that can be and will be quite dangerous. The 5yo competitive stallion has been showing how good he can be of late and his owner alexander is an 11 time world cup winner and would love to make it number 12.

Comment: Nanonoko a 5yo mare early sprinter was recently purchased in early February 2016 by 14 world cup champion stable New Scotland Yard for over $6 million dollars. With only 6 starts in her career, 5 of them was victories and one 4th place finish in last weekend heat. This horse can be very dangerous in the hands of a winning stable like New Scotland Yard.

Comment: White Star stables enter the track with 5yo stallion Temple Of Zoom. A maiden that seems to be struggling to find his running legs. Going up against this field will be a daunting task to ask from this early sprinter who never finish better then 2nd in a race.

Comment: Dirty Leonardo a 5yo stallion out of Ezulwini stable won the Amethyst Trophy last season and finish second in the 4yo Breeders Cup Finals. But the last few races has been a little off course for this champion horse and stable and owner Dolfie will be looking to recapture some of those past winning ways.
