Reach for the stars
On Saturday, we see the 13th running of the Aussie Clothing Down Under Series, proudly sponsored by one of the stalwarts of the game.
The race in the absence of Dante’s Wawa and GS Metin Oktay, sadly lacks depth. Their absence undoubtedly takes some lustre off the race.
1. Steele Starz |
5yo stallion from woodchuckers, Career earnings: $2,239,624 Overall rating: Excellent(64) – Natural champion |
Comment: The son of Americain, blotted his copybook, with a below par run in the Lowe Cup earlier this season. He has his regular pilot back on top, and the pairing should provide some fireworks over this course and distance.
2. Naamah |
5yo mare from Sootie, Career earnings: $306,080 Overall rating: Grand(66) – Fast finisher |
Comment: This mare has it all to do, coming into the race with very little experience over the distance. Trainer Sootie is no slouch and is always game for a scrap.
3. Fools Pally |
5yo stallion from Racing Stripes, Career earnings: $1,539,091 Overall rating: Excellent(60) – Fast finisher |
Comment: Racing Stripes brings Fools Pally to the track, he looks to be perfectly prepped going into this race, and we expect a bold showing.
4. Big Bad Headhoncho |
5yo stallion from Burgersfortheboyz, Career earnings: $640,000 Overall rating: Excellent(63) – Fast finisher |
Comment: Tiesha Rohla teams up with this talented 5yo son of Like A Boss, who scored a facile victory over this course and distance last Saturday. We expect him to go close here.
5. Twisty Moon |
5yo stallion from Gray Dog Stables, Career earnings: $931,700 Overall rating: Excellent(64) – Natural champion |
Comment: Twisty Moon ran a good 4th in the Cox Plate end of last season, and with more improvement to come, could trouble the front runners.
6. O’neil |
5yo mare from Diet Coke Horses, Career earnings: $1,030,046 Overall rating: Admirable(59) – Competitive |
Comment: O’neil runs for the Diet Coke Horses yard, and they have booked their apprentice for the ride, to try and get the job done.
7. Gunsynd |
5yo stallion from trouble racing, Career earnings: $1,427,789 Overall rating: Grand(66) – Fast finisher |
Comment: The chestnut son of What A Rush is bang in form and a world cup win is not far away.
