For the 21st running of the 4yo Sprint Breeders Cup. A field of 15 runners square off and only one will have their name engraved in the bronze reproduction of the Torrie horse. So Ladies and Gentelmen, “Let’s get ready to RUMBBBBBBBLE!”

1. Wolfbrother

Overall rating: Admirable(57) – Fast finisher

Form: 2,4,3,2

Comment: The first of 2 entries by Winning Post Farm, Wolfbrother, ran 2nd in his heat to Chantilly at 850m in an avg speed time of 61.22 km/h. With the final stretching out to 1,150m, look for this fast finisher to make a strong push at the wire.

2. Double Or Nothing

Overall rating: Reasonable(51) – Fast finisher

Form: 1,3,1,1,1

Comment: Entry mate to Wolfbrother, Double Or Nothing is another fast finisher who has had pretty consistent form of late. Running and winning on Sunday race card the question will be, will the  4yo stallion be ready to go in a short turnaround.

3. Captain Morgan

Comment: Can Captain Morgan shock the TK World one more time? A few weeks back the 4yo mudlark stallion out of DR. Stables was in a similar situation winning the Amethyst Trophy on a good track. One thing is for certain this horse can flat out run and if one think they can let there guards down for one second then they have another thing coming.

4. Abercrombie Disney

Overall rating: Satisfactory(48) – Fast finisher

Form: 1,9,5,10,5

Comment: The 2nd of entry out of DR. Stables and Captain Morgan stablemate is Abercrombie Disney winner of the 2yo Breeders Cup Sprint. Will the fast finisher play good cop or bad cop to his stablemate? Don’t let the overall rating fool you, owner Inca57 is veteran savvy in these situation and will have two chances that increases his odds of bring home the prize.

5. KitKat Mainside

4yo stallion from Speed Breed, Career earnings: $462,576
Overall rating: Reasonable(53) – Competitive

Form: 2,9,6,9,8

Comment: The 4yo stallion is still looking to find his form at the moment, but is hailed out of a 5 time world cup stable Speed Breed who is accustomed to winning big races.

6. Flaming Balls

4yo mare from Desert Wind Stables, Career earnings: $728,927
Overall rating: Reasonable(54) – Competitive

Comment: Flaming Balls hails out of Desert Wind Stable won her heat in a nice time of 61.61 km/h. The 4yo competitive mare is starting to round in shape at the right time and owner Rhed is looking to capture her 4th Breeders Cup.

7. Chantilly

Overall rating: Admirable(59) – Competitive

Form: 5,8,3,7,1

Comment: Coming into the final after winning her heat race in a avg speed time of 61.41 km/h owner Henrygom may have found the secret recipe to getting this 4yo competitive mare into the winner circle.

8. Perfect Hunter

4yo stallion from Fruits Folly, Career earnings: $164,000
Overall rating: Reasonable(54) – Fast finisher

Form: 4,9,2,2,7

Comment: Perfect Hunter ran a disappointing 7th in the heat race over the weekend. The fast finisher ran a fast 4th quarter but will need to not fall to far back early in the race to be able to be in contention at the wire.

9. Swick Sardeans

4yo mare from Sardean Lodge, Career earnings: $754,111
Overall rating: Admirable(57)

Form: 3,1,1,7,3

Comment: Swick Sardeans ran the unstyled 4yo a distance 3rd in the heat with the avg speed time of 61.21 km/h. The owner and jockey will pair up again to see if they can improve off that run.

10. Sos Venezuela

Comment: 2 time world cup champion Sos Venezuela is a mudlark who might not be fond of the conditions this weekend but can still be dangerous if not taken seriously.  Owner Troublemaker is a 25 time world cup winner who knows how to win on the big stage.

11. Champ Certain

Overall rating: Admirable(57) – Fast finisher

Comment: Champ Certain come into the race as a maiden with only 4 starts in his you career. The fast finisher has a decent OR at 57 and if placed right could be and upset special.

12. Buzza Bottle

Overall rating: Satisfactory(49) – Stalker

Form: 11,7,10,2,2

Comment: Buzza Bottle ran a surprise 2nd in her heat race to Flaming Balls at and avg speed of 61.16 km/h. What is strange is the owner elected to go with and apprentice jockey with little experience for the finals over the journeyman jockey who rode her last.

13. Murray River

Overall rating: Reasonable(55) – Natural champion

Comment: Murray River owner is still trying to figure out how to race this natural champion 4yo stallion, jockey Lisha Ayles get the call.

14. B’s Spaghetti

4yo stallion from BIG-B, Career earnings: $87,680
Overall rating: Reasonable(55) – Unpredictable

Form: 15,1,6,9,6

Comment : B’s Spaghetti a 4yo stallion out of champion stable BIG B barn has been a little inconsistent his last few races. With a 13 xp owner BIG B will need to use all of his world cup experience to get this unpredictable in the winner circle.

15. Deck Flap Landon

4yo stallion from Orillas del YI, Career earnings: $224,800
Overall rating: Reasonable(55) – Fast finisher

Form: 10,1,8,7,3

Comment: Deck Flap Landon out of Orillas del YI stables finish 3rd in the BC heat. The fast finisher will come out of the 15 hole and will have to position himself quickly to avoid being wide and losing to much ground early.


SUMMARY:

The finals look very intriguing with a few horses who have a real shot of getting into the winner circle. Captain Morgan and Sos Venezuela are both mudlarks but know how to win.

Winning Post Farm has two fast finishers in Wolfbrother and Double Or Nothing who have been very consistent in there last 4 and 5 starts.

Chantilly, the 4yo mare with a 59 overall rating if she can rerun last weekend heat might just be the one to beat.

Flaming Balls, seem to be peaking at the right time and is prime for a big win.

Abercrombie Disney, don’t let the OR fool you, with an owner like Inca57, and a Breeders Cup guru, you can never say never.

Champ Certain, if placed in the right position, this horse can be and upset special.

Swick Sardeans, we have seen unstyled horses shock cup fields before could this horse be another one?
