So there is our field, and coming up with a winner might be quite tough as the heats have been run on slow and the final a complete reverse being run on good.
Contenders – well lets start with Not Too Soon the Karaka champion – the dual WC winner last season cruised to a 4th in his heat and over a more suitable ground and distance of 1200m may be thundering over the top to score his 3rd world cup in as many attempts .
Secret Aurora, the dashing sprinter is from the up and coming Dixon Racing barn that is starting to contend with each age horse he start these days. With Secret Aurora it is no different, been on the cusp in his last 2 cup finals being runner up to All Too Soon, so can he turn the tables ? Maybe this stallion can, and bring another piece of silverware to a stable on the rise.
Swick Sardeans – this unstyled black mare is a lightly raced winner of 2 races, one a local – The Common Cause – add to that, a 3rd in the 2yo Breeders and a slick winner of his heat. Be it good ground or slow, not much seems to deter this mare and looks a contender in the Amethyst .
Spirited Away is a new boy on the block and a winner of his first 3 starts with two being local cups. The Woogle Wood runner had a sunday heat, so just eased himself into the final. If fit, Spirited Away will be hard to catch and add to the interest in the race – one to watch!
Others include Whole Lotta Rosie from Bristol Turks, another stalker that showed plenty in his heat and races to date – many will be looking for Rosie during the run.
Captain Morgan and Samart Jester are both from quality stables that always turn out quality runners, so expect good runs from both but for me, Not Too Soon to win.
Good read Alvin, nice job!
