The Epona Cup is a prestigious race for 4 year old short distance runners. Proudly sponsored by Rhed of Desert Winds Stable. The Epona Cup is part of the season end Extravaganza Crimson Carnival event held @London Bridge Racecourse. Also it’s the third and final leg of the 4yo Sprint/Sprint/Short TC Series.

THE CONTENDERS

FORM HORSE STABLE JOCKEY
1,1,1,3,1 Casablanca, (65) Fast Finisher Riddley Walker Racin Bev Bejaran
2,1,2,1,3 Star Wales, (62) Mudlark junior’s farms Stephane Pitre
1,1,2,10,5  Tropical Ice, (62) Breakaway  Desert Wind Stables  Dominick Kliethermes
11,10,2,7,4 Seek And Destroy, (60) Stalker Bristol Turks Jenifer Nogle

The Contenders are all winners of a world cup in there racing career.

Casablanca – This 4yo bay mare out of Riddley Walker Racin barn won the 3yo Great Sphinx last season and is ready to defend her crown. The daughter of the great champion and HOF Damascus, won her heat last week with ease and seem to have more left in the tank. Should be the heavy favorite going into the finals this weekend and the one to beat.

Star Wales – Won the Sires as a 2yo, and was 2nd in last season Great Sphinx to Casablanca. This 4yo mudlark mare representing junior’s farm has been consistent of late, but with no rain in sight this weekend, the surface might not be in her favor.

Tropical Ice – The 3yo Breeders Cup Short Champion seem to have been a little off his game the last 2 starts. With a 10th place finish in last seasons Great Sphinx and running 5th in the heat, owner Rhed is trying to rediscover that BC winning formula for this breakaway runner.

Seek and Destroy – Winner of the 2yo Breeders Cup Sprint and Ascot Vale, this 4yo chestnut stalker seems to love to sprint. The short distance haven’t been his forte but can ever be so dangerous knowing how to win when the lights are the brightest.

The Challengers who would like to upset the champs!

One Time Looker – Look like owner Gavstar got her headed back in the right direction just in time for the finals.

Promised Land – Recent form has been good and owner Angel is a silent assassin in age group cups.

The Word – is looking for space and would like to find that winning form.

Celtic Star – Stalker would like to catch the front runners napping a bit at the wire.

Odysseus – Nice overall rating but been running very inconsistent for this stable.

Firefly Glow – Very consistent runner and a top 5 is very well in reach.

Madly Attilla – Working to get back in condition and this unstyled  horse is overlymatched.

Jody Streaker – having major IP issues, owner probably will scratch to prevent further damage to the horse.
