The Great Sphinx Cup – 16th September 2017

Great Sphinx

The Dixon Racing yard has been in good form and they travel their home-bred Secret Dynasty to River Nile Delta for today’s The Great Sphinx Cup. She has won 3 of 5 starts and based on her performances could hold her own in this race. DR Stables sent out 3yo Short Breeders Cup winner Willo Blitz and she teams up with Milissa Spaide. She kept on well in the Breeders Cup last time and as a classy cup winner warrants serious respect.Image result for ladies day logo

Haughty Lookout is from the Spuraholics yard and must have a shout on his best form with a good draw. The Speed Breed conditioned Gabriel Mollyman will also be looking to run her usual game race here. She has drawn close to the rail and could get closer to the more fancied runners this time.

Pennan Rough, Play Racist and Talkin’ Shall We are all thrown into the deep end, but will enjoy the experience gained. Force’s Wild Princess is a very talented filly on her day. She is another who is holding her form well and has a nice turn of foot. She strips a very fit horse and will be running at them late.

The BODRUMLUCK yard will be looking to maintain their rich vein of form with the classy Blue Tyndareus filly, Denan. This classy sort has been lightly campaigned and has only her fourth start here. She has won 1 race and will jump from gate #9, She has shown plenty of gate speed and pace, and on a line through her defeat of Secret Dynasty at her last, she is a massive runner.

Pre-race comments from:

DR Stables – “Willo Blitz will have the services of Milissa Spaide for the second time. This combo will have to improve from the qualifier if they want to win. I believe Willo will have the lead with 200m to go and will have to hold off the strong kick of Secret Dynasty. I believe Willo Blitz or Secret Dynasty will win. But if these two falter, Denan will be there to pick up the pieces. My pick Secret Dynasty in a close race.”

Dixon Racing – “The 1466m distance of the Sphinx makes it an especially difficult cup for 3yo’s. Willo Blitz and Dynasty renew their rivalry and with the scores even at 1 cup each will be fighting all the way to the wire. These two are by no means the only ones with chances in a very competitive field and a case can be made for several runners.”

Speed Breed – “Gabriel Mollyman is hoping to rise to the challenge in the final. She’s definitely not one of the top ML’s in the race, but she’s hoping to stay up at the front with them. Anything in the top 3 would be considered a great result, but top 5 is possible.”

Force – “Wild Princess hasn’t been able to get the better of Secret Dynasty and Willo Blitz yet who are the two favourites. A top three finish would be great.”

Veyron – “No chance for my horse to win. 🙁 “

Heathfield Turf – “With this being the stable’s first major final, and the fact we have an apprentice jockey,I’m under no illusions !! The 3 placed horses in the 3yo short Breeders will probably battle it out, with Denan possibly getting in the mix, and we’ll watch from afar!
But, naive optimism is alive and well here…”

BODRUMLUCK – “I prepared Denan for this race for the last 5 months or so, yet unfortunately have been unable to enter the final in time get a near the rails seat. I am only hopeful our draw wont be big handicap to challenge Dixons horse for the line. Asit is my favourite is Secret Dynasty. Good luck to all entries.”
