The Melbourne Cup – 24th December 2016 – Sydney Harbour Racecourse

The Melbourne Cup

It is said that when you have a horse that stays, you always have a chance. Like a good red wine, the longhaulers tend to mature with age and are capable of going on to better things.

The Hippo Gate Lane entire Rooster Cogburn stays well and looks the business at Sydney Harbour today where he contests the 3200m Melbourne Cup, facing some stiff opposition. He has his old jockey back and should just about win this. The small Laak Attack mare Honey I’m Good never runs a bad race and she will have fitness on her side. It should be an entertaining race, with changes also to the other mudlarks in the race, Lunastarz, Camilla and Chakra Star.

Stable comments: – “Lunastarz was off form in the Track King Open final and it was all my fault. Hopefully I can do a better job in the Melbourne Cup, if so, she has a realistic chance to win. Having had a view of the final field, it’s hard to look past the impressive Camilla or the ever consistent Rooster Cogburn – they are the ones to beat. Finish in front of that pair, and your the winner.”

Lineage:By Bacchus Havoc out of Buddha Al
Recent form:3,2,3,3,1

Stable comments: – “I believe Chakra Star will go close, but to win this race it will be tough with so many good stayers/mudlarks entered. Had a chat with my good mate C.Waller and he said if my jockey Alena Assante follows the given instructions, Chakra will be in the finish, as he’s been set for this race since the start of the season. White Star Stables will be celebrating well into the early hours if we win this one.”

Stable comments: – “Barking Assembly….Failed to pass a runner in last weeks TK open final, Be his swansong before retirement but highly unlikely there will be a Cup waiting for him at the finish.”

9. Qantas Kicker
