Comments from the stable: – “I am thrilled to have picked up the 4 y/o sprint. I think sprint races are the most difficult to win because they are usually so competitive. This race certainly highlighted that fact will the first three all finishing in the same time to the thousandth of second and the top 6 all within nearly 0.2 seconds of each other. I didn’t really think my stable had much more than an outside chance…..so I am more than happy and I think we over-performed. Hit Girl looked a dead certain winner with a quarter of the race left and I am sure the owners of second and third are disappointed to lose by such a small margin (I would be). Great race by everybody, so tight and I was lucky to win it.”

Comments from the stable: – “What a race! That’s about as much excitement I want today. Thought Nyquist had it at 2000m than seen Lump Of Ice closing like a freight train and got a little worried. After seeing the track remain slow, I thought it would come down to Nyquist and Lump Of Ice for the win. We knew we were going to have to have a big enough lead to hold off Lump Of Ice‘s late charge. This win is special since it’s the stables 20th Breeders Cup and shows that Nyquist is a duel threat in medium and long races. Next up for Nyquist will probably be The Jewel of The Mile week 11.

Decided to try stalking the mudlark and hoped the competitive trait would kick in the final sector so we sat on the rail early to get in close, race panned out perfectly and couldn’t have asked for any more. After this nothing surprises me with this horse, does all that is asked of him.”
