Winning connections: Wester Wintin – Manor Park Stud – Judith Eakes
Comments from the stable: – “Always have to be happy picking up a win against a field like this. Up to now very little has separated a number of these so expected a very similar race to the Champagne final in which we finished second. Was difficult to decide on ri’s for the race as kept second guessing myself. Wanted to make sure we finished strongly this time as maybe overused the horse a little previously. Am expecting many great races with a few of these in future so its onto the next. “

Winning connections: Blacksmith – Winning Post Farm – Kisha Catrellon
Comments from the stable: – “I’m shocked and delighted at my first World Cup. I think you could run this race 10 times and get 6 or 7 different winners but today it was Blacksmith‘s turn to narrowly edge it. He was around 60kg overweight at birth and I’ve slowly reduced that weight and worked hard on building experience. Some of his previous runs have been under less able jockeys but we went for everything this time. So much effort went into the build up that he had a HOOF win a couple of hours before the flight to Australia and that could have made all the difference in a tight finish. Like all of my stable he is a home bred Fast Finisher from a great stallion and I hope I can have lots more fun with him. He was not the favourite going into the race but you can’t win it if you’re not in it and I hope this result inspires other trainers to have a go.”

Comments from the stable: – “Big thanks must go to Seahorse Racing for breeding a top horse, and preparing to sell him, and to Start Me Up for training a nice jockey. I have always wanted to win this beautiful cup, after coming close a few times before. The race itself panned out as expected, and I couldn’t have asked for more from the horse and jockey.”

Winning connections: German Protocol – ghanainternational – Josette Cilek
Comments from the stable: – “The Paupers Kettle is brilliant race, I thought my other horse running at Rocky. M had a better chance, than German Protocol, however, German ran a good race and beat Frisco Flyer who I thought would win the race. I was going to sack the jockey last week, however, I am glad I didn’t as she rode the perfect race.”
